CONTEXT
Grits & Eggs is a podcast hosted by Deante’ Kyle, built around raw conversations, humor, culture, entertainment, and current topics. I developed a refreshed creative direction that gave the show a stronger visual identity while keeping the personality and familiarity that already made the brand feel distinct.
(Overview)
The goal was to create a system that felt culturally rooted, conversational, and full of personality without becoming overly polished or corporate. The direction pulled from the warmth and familiarity of the show’s name while giving it a more modern media presence that could extend beyond the podcast itself.
(Challenge)
The challenge was balancing the show’s unfiltered personality with a visual system that still felt intentional and recognizable. It needed enough structure to work consistently across episode artwork, social content, promotional graphics, and larger brand applications without losing the humor and character of the podcast.
(Solution & Outcome)
I built the direction around bold typography, warm tones, textured details, and playful editorial elements that made the brand feel like an extension of the conversations themselves. The system was designed to flex across cover art, social graphics, pull quotes, promotional pieces, outdoor applications, and merchandise while maintaining a consistent look that feels familiar, expressive, and culturally grounded.
