CONTEXT
Sports Design Concepts is an ongoing collection of self-initiated work exploring visual storytelling across basketball, football, and other areas of sports. Each piece gives me room to experiment with art direction, typography, photo treatment, composition, and campaign-style thinking around different teams, athletes, and moments.
(Overview)
The goal of this series is to push my sports design skills beyond one visual style. Each concept starts with a different athlete, team, story, or idea, then develops into a visual direction that feels specific to that subject while still fitting within the larger world of sports creative.
(Challenge)
Sports graphics can quickly start to feel repetitive, especially when working with the same types of photography, team colors, and information. The challenge is finding a fresh idea for each piece without forcing a concept or losing the energy and clarity that sports design needs.
(Solution)
I approach each project from an art direction standpoint first, building the design around a central story or visual idea before moving into execution. From there, I use typography, compositing, lighting, texture, color grading, and image treatment to create something that feels intentional to the athlete or team rather than relying on one repeatable formula.
